This book is written for beginning and intermediate users of Joomla! 1.5 and 1.6 with or without knowledge about webdesign.

  • Know your way around phpMyAdmin for some of the tasks you may face.
  • Install your template, assign it as the default and make changes to it.
  • Setup the basics of a Section and a Category to hold and manage content with.
  • Manage links, users and media
  • Install, assign, and create Modules and Components
  • Install and use K2
  • Install, configure and use of some select extensions.

You can expect the review on my site within a month from today.

I have found my WordPress Theme Framework

Aside

After playing with some WordPress theme frameworks I have found my match.

I tested the following frameworks:

But none of these compared to the easiness and beauty (as developer) as Studiopress` Genesis Framework.

I have developed a new theme in less than an hour, whereas it would be impossible with K2 and took me several hours in Thematic.
I will show you the theme soon, I hope.

Linux Kernel 2.6.36 installation guide for Ubuntu Linux

Aside

This short walkthrough describes how to get the latest linux kernel working under Ubuntu Linux without having to compile it yourself.

This tutorial should work with the latest version of Ubuntu Linux (10.04 and 10.10 ) and most distributions based on these versions of Ubuntu Linux like Mint.

The included kernel files have been compiled using the generic ubuntu configuration.
Note: nVIDIA ForceWare drivers are automatically installed using DKMS, if you have these installed and up-to-date.

Installation Guide

  1. Download Download your kernel headers package; linux-headers-2.6.36-020636_2.6.36-020636.201010210905_all.deb

    I386: linux-headers-2.6.36-020636-generic_2.6.36-020636.201010210905_i386.deb

    AMD64: linux-headers-2.6.36-020636-generic_2.6.36-020636.201010210905_amd64.deb
  2. Download your kernel compile;

    I386: linux-image-2.6.36-020636-generic_2.6.36-020636.201010210905_i386.deb

    AMD64: linux-image-2.6.36-020636-generic_2.6.36-020636.201010210905_amd64.deb
  3. Install the files in the same order (else it won`t work!)
  4. In the terminal run:

    sudo update-grub
  5. Reboot and select the kernel from the bootloader menu

    If it`s not there check all steps (and ofcourse errors)

Magic the Gathering Pro Tour Amsterdam 2010 day 1

Aside

Yesterday I went to the Magic the Gathering Pro Tour 2010 in the Amsterdam Convention Centre in Amsterdam.

I was several hours earlier and  went into Amsterdam for shopping first.

Since the information desk wasn`t open yet I did not recieve my Avatar of Woe card and a spincounter. What a shame!

I have made some photos with my cellphone;
