WooCommerce Top Extensions

WooThemes` WooCommerce has been around for only a short time compared to other WordPress E-Commerce einvonments,
WooCommerce is my WordPress E-Commerce environment of choice and that`s no secret.

Currently there are 80 official WooCommerce extensions but this amount is growing every week!
Below is my personal selection of recommended extensions and why;

Genesis Connect

This plugin replaces WooCommerce’s built-in shop templates with its own Genesis-ready versions.

I`ve been using the Genesis Framework for over a year and been waiting for this since WooCommerce 1.1 arrived.
It`s totally free but you`ll have to have the Genesis Framework.

This plugin allows customers/viewers to browse products in their own language.
To use this plugin you`ll need to have WPML.

This plugin makes life easier by integration your webshop with social media (Facebook).

Joomla! 1.5 Top Extensions Cookbook review

The Joomla! 1.5 Top Extensions Cookbook is one of Packt Publishing’s cookbook series meaning that it contains recipes. This book contains over 80 different recipes to use extensions to add maps, image galleries, slideshows, audio  and video players, security, forums, shopping cart, guestbook and other functionalities to your site.  Each recipe is a articles with an idea and how to work it out (step by step), just like a regular cookbook.

Joomla! is an open-source award-winning PHP/MySQL based content management system (CMS). Since its available under the GPL license it`s free to download, modify and use it for your website.

This book is written for Joomla! 1.5 users without programming or webdesign knowledge. Basic knowledge of setting it up is recommended.

For basic Joomla! Knowledge I can recommend Joomla! 1.5 Cookbook which I reviewed earlier: Joomla! 1.5 Cookbook review.

Most of the content of this book is also valid for Joomla! 1.6, although not all extensions will work fine. The same counts for users of PHP 5.3.

Microsoft and HTML5 Video

Aside

Yesterday microsoft announced in this post that:

  • IE9 will support H.264.
  • Microsoft released an add-on for Firefox on Windows to support H.264
  • Microsoft will release a plugin for  Google Chrome on Windows to provide support for H.264.
  • Support will be provided for IE9 users who want to play WebM

What does this mean?

Why Google doesn`t want to use H.264 in Chrome – Microsoft will make a workaround.
With this workaround and WebM support I forsee a good future for H.264  and WebM.

Personally- at this moment  – I haven`t made a choice of codec yet. Maybe after reading the HTML5 Video ook, which I will be reviewing next week!
