Cisco 3600 series router configuration day 2

Next step is upgrading IOS 12.2 to the latest version (a 12.4 branch)
Im very happy my model has the maximum amount of memory fitted in.

Quote: “On some platforms, notably the 3600 Series Routers, 19200, 38400, 57600 and 115200 bps are supported.”
This means upgrading the firmware goes about 12x as fast! Still it took 1 and a half hours.

Setting up my new Cisco 3600 series router

After fixing the first error (some sort of memory bug) the router starts with a rather plain config. I made sure i backed up this config before doing my own configuration;

Console cable + telnet:

Website performance optimalisation, day 2

Today i will fine-tune the site`s loading even more.
I`ve shoven the first-sight time down from 3.6 to 3.1 seconds. Most important change is the decreased fully-loaded time from 12.2 to  4.1 seconds!
The profile links in the sidebar caused a huge slowdown of my blog and it also looks ugly. I`ve moved the DandyID profiles to a seperate page.

Changed settings:

  • Inline CSS Minification

Benchmarks are provided by www.webpagetest.org (server: internet explorer 7, Gloucester, United Kingdom)
