The Ubuntu kernel guys have released an official build of the 2.6.30 Linux Kernel.
The .deb files should work with both Ubuntu and Debian and distributions based on them.
The included kernel files have been compiled using the generic ubuntu configuration. Note: nVIDIA ForceWare drivers are automaticly installed using DKMS (which is included in Ubuntu 8.10 and higher including 9.04)
The files can be found at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.30/

- Reboot and select the kernel from the bootloader menu
For those who want to do their “own” compiles, the source is available at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.30/linux-source-2.6.30_2.6.30-020630_all.deb

Final 2.6.31 is out now
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.31/
but it seems that the kernel source is unavailable – i mean the last kernel source for .31-rc6 is 59mb, but later releases are only 2.1 or 2.2KB, any one know whats happening?
I`m sorry but i don`t have a clue.

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.31.1/
gives me a 404 presently
I know, but it will be released later today
trust me.
i presumed … it`s late but kernel 2.6.31.1 has been released
don’t jump the gun with the updates, when it is not even available
and I am still waiting if they have actually fixed the linux-source package
if you check the latest daily at you`ll see it contains the headers and source
Hi there again mate, if you check the daily headers and source packages you see the source package is 2.2KB as I mentioned earlier and if you actually see the BUILD.LOG then you find ERRORS ERRORS for the current build
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/daily/current/BUILD.LOG
And if you look carefully, the last successful linux-source build was on 2009-08-18, all dates after have build a bad linux-source deb till current
2.6.32-rc1 has been released … waiting for the Ubuntu kernel build of that
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.32-rc1/
I have notified the ubuntu kernel team about the invalid linux-source debs, and please don’t jump the gun again!! Notify only when all/complete packages are available (headers, linux-image with/without linux-source)
the above url that you mention has:
[ ] BUILD.LOG 28-Sep-2009 10:39 812K
[ ] linux-headers-2.6.32-020632rc1_2.6.32-020632rc1_all.deb 28-Sep-2009 10:01 9.4M
[ ] linux-source-2.6.32_2.6.32-020632rc1_all.deb 28-Sep-2009 10:01 2.2K
meaning it has only valid headers deb, not even the linux-kernel image. This is getting ridiculous, please post when complete packages are available.
The ubuntu kernel guys have fixed the package issues, now you will find kernel packages (headers, image and source) for 2.6..32rc-1 here
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.32-rc1/
Hopefully the next revisions will have all the kernel packages updated properly.
thanks for the notice.

Hello, can you help me?
I have to compile the usbserial module has a module in ubuntu 9.04, actually that module is compile inside the kernel.. Is there a way to compile just the usbserial module, not the full kernel source and modules?
(sorry if my english is bad)
I have downloaded the source and headers packages, I know how to compile the full way. but no make a included module loaded has module…
Sorry,
I`m not into compiling kernels
you cant compile half a kernel
but it is possible to load modules
ok thanks for answer
